1. Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River

Although I would love to see a future season of “The White Lotus” set in a city hotel, similar to the film “Lost in Translation,” it is unlikely to be the upcoming season. However, if the characters do explore themes of Eastern religion and spirituality in a major Thai city, the Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River would be their ideal destination. I had the opportunity to stay at the Four Seasons Bangkok in late 2022, and it offers a luxurious resort experience in the heart of the Land of Smiles.

The hotel’s grand lobby, featuring stone floors and panoramic windows, would be an impressive setting to showcase some of the fashion of this season and introduce new cast members, or to simply enjoy a glass of champagne at the no. 14 ranked bar, BKK Social. The spacious guest rooms and suites offer views of the Chao Phraya River and come with comfortable bedding, attentive staff, and deep soaking tubs to relax in after a day of drama.

The dining options at Four Seasons Bangkok are extensive, providing numerous opportunities for cast members to plot and scheme or act out after their significant other misbehaves. The Michelin-starred Cantonese restaurant, Yu Ting Yuan, offers Peking duck and dim sum while overlooking the hotel’s beautiful gardens. The BKK Social Club, a cocktail bar inspired by Buenos Aires, serves powerful drinks that guests can sip while anticipating the season finale’s inevitable surprises.

The hotel also boasts many places to unwind, including a rooftop lap pool and waterfront pools for families. The spa offers various Thai body treatments, from massages to herbal compresses. Stand-up float board yoga in the lap pool could provide some comic relief, “The White Lotus” style.

Room rates at the Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River start at $730 per night.

2. Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui

Mike White’s characters have a penchant for islands, and Thailand has many islands. Koh Samui is a popular destination among the elite, including socialites, and of course the tech executives. The Four Seasons Koh Samui resort is a perfect place to stay on this island, with a variety of room options ranging from the beachfront villas to opulent private residences that can accommodate entire families and then some.

The resort has a Muay Thai Recovery session, where guests can join a professional kickboxer to get their blood flowing or get a Thai massage to alleviate any residual emotional trauma. At Koh Thai Kitchen, guests can indulge in Emmy-worthy southern Thai cuisine in an open-air dining room with stunning mountain views that are ideal for some Harper-style conversations and revelations.

The resort’s beaches and pools feature comfortable lounge chairs that are ideal for lounging or suntanning, reminiscent of Harper’s character. Guests can also go on yacht excursions to explore the stunning surrounding islands and beaches, a tribute to Tanya’s character.

The Four Seasons Koh Samui resort has rates starting at $720 per night.

3. Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle

The Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle offers luxurious accommodations that are a far cry from your typical camping experience, with rates that can soar above $2,500 per night. The resort has a “one percenters do the great outdoors” vibe that would be perfect for a third season of “The White Lotus.” You can imagine characters like Connie Britton’s Nicole eyeing the tent fabric and questioning if it’s environmentally friendly, after having flown privately to Thailand as one does.

Guests can choose from deluxe tents or the secluded Explorer’s Lodge, which features a private infinity pool and enough beds for six guests. The accommodations are almost an insult to call “tents,” as they come equipped with wooden hot tubs on private decks overlooking the Ruak River and surrounding mountains, soaking tubs with amazing views, plush furnishings, and cozy beds to rest in after a day of exploring the jungle or spending time with the rescued elephants.

The true luxury of the Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle is the natural surroundings, and guests can interact with the rescued elephants on a guided tour that includes bathing, feeding, and walking with them. The resort’s location in northern Thailand along the border of Laos and Myanmar is a breathtaking backdrop for dining, with Thai, Laotian, and Burmese cuisine served up in the resort’s main restaurant, Nong Yao. The Burma Bar, the resort’s cocktail lounge, provides a perfect spot for happy hour with drama and views of the Ruak River basin and Elephant Camp.

Guests seeking privacy can enjoy a sunrise breakfast prepared by a personal chef at the resort’s Camp Peak, or book private picnics, barbecues, or Elephant Camp meals. The Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle also has an open-air spa nestled among the trees of the Thai jungle for those looking to unwind.

The resort’s rates start at $2,500, which includes packages that bundle meals, drinks, spa treatments, and other amenities. So, if you want to experience luxury camping, the Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle is the perfect destination for you.

4. Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai

Four Seasons Chiang Mai
Four Seasons Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai, a culturally rich and visually stunning city in northern Thailand, may just be the perfect location for the next season of “The White Lotus”. The setting is ideal for a dramatic backdrop of spiritual cleansings and cultural immersions that may or may not end with untimely deaths or murder, who knows?

The Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai, surrounded by rice fields and located away from the city’s hustle and bustle, seems like a great fit for the show. The property emphasizes wellness and offers guests opportunities for physical and mental cleansing, including sunrise yoga sessions, rice planting, and pranayama breathing exercises, among other activities. The luxurious rooms range from elevated pavilions to private villas with pools, and the resort boasts three stunning restaurants that could serve as ideal settings for cooking classes or dining scenes.

While it remains to be seen whether the resort will feature in the upcoming season of “The White Lotus,” it is definitely worth considering for your next vacation. Who knows, maybe Tanya’s spiritual journey started here, or perhaps new characters with relationships to old ones could benefit from the resort’s wellness offerings. Either way, a stay at the Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai promises to be a memorable experience.

Rates at the Four Seasons Chiang Mai start at $500 per night.
